From the Executive Director

“Together we can achieve the extraordinary” is a quote that expresses our belief at Mission Montessori. In 1995, we had the unique opportunity to start a small preschool at St. Anthony on the Desert at 12990 East Shea Boulevard in Scottsdale. At that time, the total enrollment consisted of twelve students. In thirteen years we have grown to 260 students who range in age from two years old to twelve years old.

Mission Montessori Schools educate children from ages 2 ½ to 12, in grades up to 6th grade. It is nestled into one of the most beautiful parts of Arizona’s Sonoran Desert which is located in north east Scottsdale, Arizona. The Primary campus, includes our youngest students – Toddlers (ages 2 1/2 – 3 years) through Primary (ages 3- 6 years). It is located at 12990 East Shea Boulevard.

The Elementary campus is a charter elementary school and includes a lower elementary program (ages 6- 9 years), and an upper elementary program (ages 9 – 12 years). It is located at 11050 North 96th street. Both campuses reflect our southwestern heritage with engaging adobe structures, bell towers, tile roofs and beautifully fashioned gates. Their natural surroundings and gardening plots provide an excellent outdoor classroom for teaching.

Mission Montessori Schools reflect a deep commitment to Dr. Maria Montessori’s philosophy. We support this method with outstanding and experienced AMI and AMS certified teachers. Each classroom is complete with beautiful hands-on Nienhuis materials, computers, laboratory equipment and cultural collections.

It is our mission to support and nurture all children’s innate love of learning. We encourage independence, good communication, appropriate manners and peaceful resolutions of conflict.

Our children develop strong self-images with the confidence to face life’s challenges, and the motivation to become life long learners and leaders.

What is the Montessori Philosophy?

maria_portrait.jpgEach Montessori school is built upon the educational legacy of Dr. Maria Montessori and her influential work, which began nearly one hundred years ago. Since 1907, the year of her first school, children and adults have engaged in an approach to learning that addresses all aspects of growth: cognitive, physical, social, emotional, and spiritual.
