Arizona Character Education Foundation Grant Awarded 12/07

The Arizona Character Education Foundation has granted Mission Montessori Academy $500 to assist our school in implementing  Character Counts - a virtues program provided to Arizona schools  by the Arizona Department of Education. It  will include virtues lessons and monthly activities for the primary as well as Elementary grades.  These funds will be used to purchase  important support materials .  Our Elementary program got off to a great start with a very insightful play performed by our upper Elementary students on trust  and what it takes to become trustworthy by our parents and our peers.

BEST BUY grant-2007

Best Buy grant written by Sarita Douglas, parent of two elementary students, provided $2500 for purchasing laptop computers.

ARIZONA COMMISSION ON THE ARTS 2006, 2007 & 2008

Our elementary program has been awarded Arizona Commission on the Arts  grants totaling $7,000.  We  matched  the funds for an indepth study of China-including hands-on  instruction by a commissioned artist  in the cultural aspects of China. The  following year,  the school spent six weeks immersed in the study of the history of the Earth, during which the students with the help of a team of artists created a three dimensional time line of life on an exterior fence over 50 feet long.  This year we were granted funds to study the indigenous peoples of the southwest which  will give our students the opportunity to explore  Arizona's earliest communities and our own states personal history.
