Did you know that you can control how your tax dollars are spent?
In Arizona you can allocate up to $200 as an individual tax payer or up to $400 for those filing a joint return. Instead of your tax dollars going to fix potholes, you can make sure it goes directly to the publicly funded school of your choice. The best part is that it is a dollar for dollar credit, so it literally costs you nothing.
How does it work? When you file your state taxes, if you owe $300, you would now only owe $100 after this dollar for dollar direct credit. This puts you in the drivers seat and can make a huge impact on your school’s extracurricular programs like music, art, technology, science, foreign languages and field trips.
Who qualifies for this credit? Anyone who makes a contribution to a public school for the support of extra curricular activities or character Ed. programs. This includes parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, friends and business associates.
When can I make a tax credit contribution? As a credit towards this year’s taxes, right now through December 31.
How do I make the contribution? Print out the tax credit form (available below), fill out the form, attach your check and turn in to the Mission Montessori school office.
