Hello parents, welcome to Mission Montessori.
I come to this position holding a Master’s Degree in Special Education and a Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature. I have one year of Montessori experience working as an Assistant Teacher at both the Lower Elementary and Upper Elementary campuses. In addition, I will be spending the entire summer in Houston, Texas, earning my Montessori Teaching Certification.
This is not my first time in a classroom however. I have been teaching in schools in Maryland since 1998. While I have taught in all grade levels from K-12, the bulk of my experience comes from working in the Special Education field. I have learned to adapt my teaching style to both individual and collective needs within the classroom.
“Your students will walk into a calm and welcoming environment on the first day of school.”
I expect a lot out of my students and, given the structure of the Upper Elementary program, our class will exceed expectations. In addition to our rigorous curriculum, I intend for the students to explore the topic of oceanography in great detail. I also envision students compiling a collection of their writing work to be distributed throughout Mission Montessori Academy. To strengthen math and money skills, students will gain an understanding of investments and will build a class portfolio of investments to monitor throughout the year.
I look forward to working with you and your students in the new school year.
