Hello! My name is Kelly Wisley.
I was born and raised in Minnesota with two sisters, my mom and dad, and our dog. I played competitive soccer for fourteen years and played rec soccer for nine more years until I started my family. I have lived in Arizona for almost ten years and have been married for seven of those years and have two beautiful children, Palmer who is five and Lily who is three years old (both whom attend Mission Montessori). Becoming a mother has greatly influenced my abilities as a teacher and it has helped me look at the whole child and understand that all children learn differently.
I realized in high school that I wanted to become a teacher. Therefore, when I entered the University of Findlay, in Ohio, I knew that I would be majoring in education. My first summer home from college in 1995, I found Montessori. I worked in a Montessori preschool for the summer. I knew instantly that this was the type of teaching environment that I wanted to be in. I continued my college education and also worked at this preschool every summer break. I graduated in 1998 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary and Special Education. I was offered a job immediately out of college at this school. I became the Director of their Aftercare program. I worked at this school for six years and did many hours of subbing in the preschool classrooms. I made a big move across the country, to Arizona in 2005, and starting working at Villa Montessori. I was a teacher’s assistant for one year and then took my Montessori training which took another year.
Upon becoming a Certified Montessori teacher in 2007, I received my first classroom as a lead teacher. During the next three years, I continued my education by getting my Master’s Degree in Montessori Education from Ottawa University in 2009. Each year, I attended the American Montessori Society Conferences along with thousands of other Montessori teachers from across the United States. I attended classes on a variety of Montessori topics and saw many influential speakers. I then decided to venture out to see what other schools had to offer. I found Mission Montessori and have been working here for the last four years. In 2012, I was appointed the Faculty Facilitator on the 96th St. campus. I was working with the teachers, assistants, parents, and administration. In 2013, I was appointed Assistant Principal of the del Jardin campus and truly enjoy this position. It has been a wonderful experience for me to try my hat in other situations. I am truly fulfilled every day in my classroom and I am looking forward to helping your child become a lifelong learner!
