Ms. Laine Rutkowski

Hello parents!

I would like to share some information about myself so that you may better get to know me, as we begin this new school year together. My name is Laine Rutkowski and this will be my fifth year teaching at Mission Montessori.
I started my career at Mission teaching Spanish to the Elementary 1, 2, and middle school campuses.
During this time I created and built my own Spanish curriculum for all eight grade levels. I was then granted the opportunity to attend the AMS Montessori training at the Houston Montessori Center in Houston, Texas. I attended training there during the summer of 2013. I spent the next year completing my internship in Ms. Wisely’s classroom. In the summer of 2014 I finished my training at Houston Montessori Center and received my AMS Montessori credentials. During the 2014-2015 school year I took on my own classroom and will continue my role as lead teacher this year.

I was born and raised in Austin, Texas with my mother, father, brother and sister. I attended Parkside Montessori school for much of my elementary school education. I then graduated high school from St. Stephen’s Episcopal school, a rigorous college preparatory school at which my father has taught math for the past sixteen years.

I attended college at the University of Denver in Colorado. While in college I served as a board member for the DU volunteers, the head community service group at Denver. I then spent six incredible months studying abroad in Valparaiso, Chile during my junior year. I graduated Cum Laude from the University of Denver in 2012 with my Bachelor’s degree in Spanish studies. With the help of studying abroad, and studying Spanish since the sixth grade, I can speak the language fluently. After graduation I moved to Phoenix to pursue my career.

I have always had a love of learning, something I believe stems from my start at a Montessori school. In addition, my father has taught math for his entire career, leaving a huge place in my heart for education. The past three years teaching at Mission have been filled with nothing but incredible experiences. I look forward to guiding your children to attain a life-long love of learning, as we embark on another year together!

Why do you teach Montessori: I grew up going to a Montessori school. The teachers that I had while there inspired me to become who I am today and I will never forget them. Montessori allows children to become independent, strong and self-sufficient learners. I want to be there to guide them on this journey.
